The Ruth House is in need of weekend VOLUNTEER house parents (women) who are willing to stay with the ladies from Friday evening until Sunday afternoon, and just be there with them, and for them. It is an amazing opportunity for you to sow into these ladies lives the good things that God has done in your life and to just be a blessing to them! Commitment would only be one weekend per month, or even every other month. We also are looking for someone who can come to family recovery on the second and 4th Friday evenings of the month, and do some organized activities with the visiting children so that the family and resident can have time to work on their family relationships in their recovery. Time would be from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Please contact Charmet Chester for details and if you're interested. This is a great way to invest in these ladies lives, and to participate in their addiction recovery program.

There is need for people who speak Spanish,

MUST MINISTRIES

They have a great need for people to help deliver food to seniors.  It is a mobile pantry that goes to some of the senior services centers.  They need people to deliver to the seniors who can't carry 25 lb bags.  Families with little ones are invited to help with this.

JustServe Passport:

If you haven’t yet completed your JS Summer Passport, you still have time.  Members of the stake have asked that we extend the Summer Passport, so we are.  There are still 8 categories and a social media square.  Our goal is for each person to complete 5 squares on their passport this summer.

JustServe Summer Passport Program for Marietta Stake

What:  Passport of different service or promotional opportunities one for Primary children that will mostly be remote projects to donate to organizations.  For the youth it will have some remote ideas, some service in person ideas, and some social media posting ideas, like putting a JS water bottle on your water bottle and then take a pic and post it.  Then when you are serving have the bottle with you like a ‘Flat Stanley’ for the summer.

Opportunities:  This will have 8 different types of service opportunities on each and we will ask them to complete 5 for the summer.

Categories will be Youth, Seniors, Animals, Women, Hunger, Children, Veterans, Neighbors, and then posting on JS and stake pages.

We will have ideas for each of these specific to age.

For Primary:

Youth:  Paint rocks or donate youth age books

Seniors:  Make placemats or go sing at a retirement home

Animals:  Make cat toys or donate old towels and take them to an animal shelter

Women: No sew blankets or color pages with messages of hope

Hunger:  Help make sandwiches for the Sandwich Project or put together snack packs for MUST Ministries Summer Lunch Program

Children: Donate used toys or books to different charities, color pages for children in the hospital or make cookies and donate them at Ronald McDonald House

Veterans: Make cookies and donate or color pages with messages of gratitude and encouragement

Neighbors: Invite a friend or neighbor to help you do one of these projects or do something kind for your neighbor

Social media:  Take a picture of your family serving and post it on the Marietta Stake page or send it to Stephanie for posting.

For Youth:

Youth: Paint rocks with encouraging messages or donate youth books or go through your closet and donate some of your shoes and clothing that you don’t use as often

Seniors: Go to a senior community with your friends or family and sing or play instruments or just visit or make no sew blankets to share

Animals:  Volunteer to serve at one of the shelters a few times this summer or gather a group of friends and do yard work at one of the shelters

Women: With your friends or family help make sack lunches for Table on Delk and decorate the bags with uplifting messages of love and encouragement or no sew blankets

Hunger:  Help make snack packs for MUST Ministries or make sandwiches for the Sandwich Project

Children:  Donate gently used books, volunteer to help distribute snack packs and lunches with MUST Ministries- many locations throughout the area

Veterans:  Make Cookies and write letters of gratitude and appreciation or go to a Flag Placement or Memorial Ceremony at a National Cemetery

Neighbors:  Invite your friends to join you in any of these opportunities or do something kind for one of your friends or neighbors that could use some cheering or help.

Social media:  Take pictures of service and post on your social media and on Marietta Stake as well as JustServeGA.  Put a JS sticker on your water bottle and take selfies with it as you serve this summer.

We would like to share our passport, once it is complete with all of our opportunities in the wards through our Communications Specialists.  We would also love to kick it off at the Primary Activity and both Youth Camps.  As well as having wards talk about it in their classes.

Incentives:  We are thinking about having a popsicle party if they have 5 or more things checked off.  It could be fun for the Primary kids, and we could have one large one at the stake center or smaller ones throughout the stake at our buildings.

For the youth:  Popsicles handed out at their end of summer dance if they bring their passport and have 5 or more things checked off.

We will continue to post early every week ideas to help with a specific category.  We will post on Marietta Stake and JustServe pages and encourage those who are participating to post their stories.

If you have any questions, please ask!  We are here to help while our families help the community!
